Wadebridge Town Council
On Tuesday 18th April 1898, the fifteen newly elected members of the Wadebridge Town Council, attended the Town hall, where they signed the Declaration of Acceptance.
The voting had been overseen by the returning Officer, and Bodmin Solicitor - Mr J. Pethybridge.
The Chairman was:
William Henry CRAIG - a businessman who owned an outfitters and tailors in Molesworth Street, which was later to become Craig & Docton
The rest of the Committee comprised of:
George ANDERSON - A baker and confectioner from Molesworth Street.
Thomas CAVELL - A general grocer in Molesworth Street, on the site of what is today, Langs Fish & Chip shop.
John GOODFELLOW - A Hotelier within the Town, who also ran a building firm.
William Anthony HAWKEY - A Coach & Carriage builder, who also had a cycle shop.
William LOBB - A cycle agent, who was well known for his love of the noble art of Boxing.
John MARTYN - A Corn merchant.
Ernest Garibaldi MEWTON - Owner of the Gas Works in Polmorla Road.
William PHILLIPS - A butcher in Molesworth Street.
Edward POLLARD - The owner of the Molesworth Arms Hotel.
Samuel POLLARD - A solicitor of Bridge End.
Tom RICKARD - An importer on Bradford's Quay.
John Worden SYMONS - Believed to have been a solicitor in the Bridge End practice.
Thomas WILLIAMS - A builder form Bridge End.
William Harvey WILLS -A draper in Molesworth Street.
